Biography EN

Adit Dewan is a Dhaka based filmmaker and curator. He belongs to the Chakma indigenous community of the Chittagong Hill Tracts, Bangladesh. His filmmaking and curatorial journey focuses on identity, language and the realities of the indigenous peoples’ of the country as well as he loves to look for the meaning, existence, power etc. combining human, animal and natural worlds. He is a co-founder and currently the festival director of the Hill Film Festival which focuses indigenous language films of the country. He received Seed Award and Moving Narratives Fellowship Award from the Prince Claus Fund, Netherlands as well as Curatorial Intensive South Asia (CISA) Fellowship from the Goethe-Institut and Khoj International Artists’ Association, New Delhi. He studied Zoology and Film Studies and currently also works as Program Curator at SHALA_Neighbourhood Art Space, a Dhaka based art gallery.
