Mreethmandir Gunjan Kumar Roy

I am an animator and visual artist who grew up in Dhaka and is currently situated in Helsinki, Finland. I work with digital hand-drawn animation, traditional drawings, installations, and code-based artworks.

My practice is based on ever-active investigation of my surroundings and the feelings evoked by such spaces. My sketchbook drawing serves as my coping mechanism, allowing me to document my observations and emotional responses to them. My techniques span across experimental animation, code-based art, and video projection to activate and communicate my drawings.

I completed my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture from the University of Dhaka in 2019. In 2025, I completed my Master of Arts degree in Animation from the Re:Anima Joint Masters programme with an Erasmus Mundus scholarship. My projects have been displayed in exhibitions in Myymälä2 (Helsinki), EMK Centre (Dhaka), Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (Dhaka), and several other web-based exhibitions. Additionally, I have curated an animated video-art window exhibition at KissMyARS Galleria, Helsinki. I have also contributed to artist Dhali Al Mamoon's exhibition, Atlas of Dissent, as an animator.
