Sounak Das (1993, BD) is a multimedia artist, currently based in the Netherlands. His practice is enchanted
by the curiosity in science and spirituality, exploring the experimental use of media and technology in art.
His works reflect the intrinsic entanglement between human-machine-nature, often through immersive,
interactive and speculative storytelling.
Das is currently undergoing an art-science residency, NeuroNarratives in collaboration with a
neuroscientist supported by Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience, Amsterdam. He holds a MA in Visual
Arts and Post Contemporary Practice from the St.Joost School of Art and Design, Netherlands and studied
photojournalism and documentary photography from Pathshala South Asian Media Institute, Dhaka,
Bangladesh. Drawing from transmedia storytelling, he weaves together photography, sound, film and
moving images, performance, and sculptural installations to interrogate the philosophical and
metaphysical dimensions of media technology and contemporary socio-political narratives.
His works have been featured in international festivals such as Noorderlicht Festival, Horst Arts&Music,
Eindhoven Foto Festival, Eye Filmmuseum, Chobi Mela, Dhaka Art Summit, and Kochi-Muziris Biennale.
His works have been shortlisted for the Samdani Art Award, Lensculture Art Photography Awards, Sony
World Photography Awards and published in The Guardian, Google Arts & Culture, Nieuwe Instituut and
F-Stop Magazine.
